Japan: Sakurajima Volcano Erupts Twice in Two Days for First Time This Year 2

Sakurajima volcano in Kagoshima, southern Japan, erupted explosively on consecutive days for the first time this year. The blasts from the Minamidake summit crater on April 11 and 12 sent ash plumes up to 3,400 meters high and scattered volcanic rocks up to 1,000 meters from the crater. No pyroclastic flows were observed. The eruptions are the first and second of the year, following the previous event on December 13 last year. Volcanic alert level 3 — prohibiting entry into the mountain — remains in effect, with authorities warning of large projectiles and pyroclastic flows within 2 kilometers of the crater.

The 2025-2026 Bitter Orange Harvesting Season in Seville Has Begun

The president of the Partido Popular, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, appears before the media at the national headquarters of the Partido Popular, on December 29, 2025, in Madrid (Spain). Two days before the end of the current year, during his speech, Feijóo took stock of 2025, listing what have been for the PP the ten failures of the Government in this period: housing, migration, international policy, protection of the family and women, and corruption, among others. The leader of the PP stated that in Spain "it is the Government that is failing, not the nation" and that the PP is prepared to offer an alternative to this Executive. World's Longest Expressway Tunnel - Urumqi

This photo taken on December 23, 2025 shows the exit of Tianshan Shengli Tunnel on Urumqi-Yuli Expressway in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world's longest expressway tunnel, and the Urumqi-Yuli Expressway that traverses the Tianshan Mountains via the tunnel, will be open to traffic by the end of this year, enabling a new shortcut linking southern and northern parts of Xinjiang. The 22.13-kilometer tunnel will reduce the time it takes to drive across the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains from several hours to about 20 minutes. Once operational, the travel time from the regional capital of Urumqi, north of the Tianshan Mountains, to Korla, south of the Tianshan Mountains, will be shortened from seven hours to about three hours. Vilalba Capon Fair 2025 - Spain

Celebration of the 'Feira do Capón de Vilalba', on December 21, 2025, in Vilalba, Lugo, Galicia (Spain). It is a popular fair with more than 200 years of antiquity celebrated every year around December 21 and has international repercussion. It begins in the early hours of the day with the sale of this emblematic Christmas product, enlivened by the performance of several folk groups. The star of the fair are the "capons", chickens fed by hand with balls of cornmeal and potato dough, which during the fattening season are placed in cages called "capoeiras" to immobilize them and accelerate their fattening until the time of slaughter, the day before the fair. Capon de Villalba is a product of excellent quality, highly appreciated since the 13th century. Photo by Carlos Castro / Europa Press / ABACAPRESS.COM
